As a memoir to his deceased wife Shirley, the author Bob Lent, wanted the overall book design to reflect her inner beauty and poise. Shirley had especially enjoyed their time living in England, having fallen in love with the beauty and elegance of old English culture.
The design challenge was to make the cover look elegant and include a beloved family sketch of Shirley exploring the woods as a child. This was accomplished by using a classic dark maroon color on the cover, with a script title font and flourishes throughout the book. The hard cover and dust jacket completed the classic look. Bob was delighted to receive many complements on the look and feel of the book.
Bob Lent and Shirley Hill found each other in high school. Neither could have imagined the exotic places they would travel to, or the famous people they would meet in England and China. Shirley charmed many, from peasants to royalty. In this delightful memoir, Bob recounts their life together in fascinating detail, including many interesting travel stories.
